Yoga & Acupuncture: A Centering Winter Solstice Celebration

  • Harmonist Sanctuary 4633 East Colfax Avenue Denver, CO, 80220 United States (map)

This yoga & acupuncture worksop is a part of our Wheel of the Year Yoga & Acupuncture Series. The Wheel of the Year celebrates the interwoven energies of the Moon and Sun cycles as we move through the seasons. Together the Wheel of the Year is made up of the 4 Solar Days and the 4 Fire Festivals - the Spring Equinox, Beltane, the Summer Solstice, Lamas, the Fall Equinox, Samhain, and the Winter Solstice. In this series, we use yoga & acupuncture to tap into these natural rhythms in order to bring these energies into our own beings.

The Winter Solstice, or Yule, is one of the 4 ancient Solar Days and marks the transition from autumn to winter.

As one of the solstices, Yule is a time when the sun and moon are at the zenith of their cycles. The Winter Solstice marks the longest night of the year and is represented by the healing energy of the moon. Traditionally, the Winter Solstice is associated with a sacred time of rest and reflection. It is a time to slow down, bring awareness to our bodies, and strengthen our intuitive powers. The world is in slumber as the plants and animals start their hibernation season, replenishing their energy for the upcoming new cycle. Yule is a time for deep reflection, intuition, peace, and nourishment.

Our workshop will focus on attuning to the internal, replenishing energy of this season as we ground deeper into our bodies and our intuitions. We will begin our workshop with meditation and intention setting as we settle into this winter energy. Our yoga flow will focus on grounding into our bodies, slowing down, and nourishing and replenishing our energy. We will engage in a grounding, slow flow, hatha yoga practice to welcome in this winter season and time of reflection. We will follow our body movement practice with community-style acupuncture to help integrate our bodies and minds as they align with the reflective, replenishing energy of the Winter Solstice.
